I have a song, so let the earth sing along

I have been really sad today. I have heard about so many heartbreaking stories in the past couple of days…my heart just hurts for family and friends around me. My friend from college, Sunday Ibok, suffered from a brain aneurysm on Sunday night. He was pronounced brain dead last night and is currently on life support and in a coma. He is a wonderful guy with so much light in his eyes and so much joy. I also heard today that one of my dad’s best friends was given 10 months (at most) to live, and another friend’s dad is having a heart transplant today. I also have some family members right now with very serious health problems and a recent fear of mine is getting a late night call from Texas.

This reminds me that our time here together is so very precious. Psalm 144:4 says, “Man is like a breath; his days are like a fleeting shadow.“ You never know when someone you love won‘t be there tomorrow. It just makes me want to hug my family tight and never let go.

To those grieving today for different reasons. Pray hard. It’s what is going to get you through. Those days when you think the pain of loss is too hard to handle…Those days when you miss that person so much and you would give anything to be able to pick up your phone and call them. Pray harder and know that others are praying for you too.

Today, I encourage you to focus on the important things in your life. Spend quality time with your loved ones and together take the time to enjoy the little things that we miss so often. Take advantage of the beautiful and precious time that God has given you with them. We let things get in the way of that sometimes.

Be Brave.
“This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9
